It begins with an inexplicable act where the marketing executive of a major airline walks into an important meeting with soon to be partners of another company to finalize their merger and detonates a bomb, killing twelve and injuring many others. Lieutenant Eve Dallas and Detective Delia Peabody soon learn that there was much more to this suicide bombing.
I really enjoyed this insidious case where it was dogged police procedurals to figure out the who and why. With the help of the team and Roarke (there was definitely a reason for him to help), Eve methodically assembles the clues and probable suspect pool to resolve the mystery. This is the type of story in the series that I love the most. It’s all about solving the case under serious time constraints as the killers aren’t done. And, there was an absolutely delicious secondary storyline that made this an even better read. I won’t spoil it for you but just know you’re going to love it.
While I enjoyed the story, it did drag in places where I felt there was a bit of repetition but only enough to keep it from being a 5-star read. Otherwise, this was another enjoyable installment in my most favorite series.

I’ve only read the first book in this series, it is quite the commitment! And I am assuming that Rork gets better in the later on Books, he didn’t impress me in that first book!

He very definitely gets better. I was iffy about him after the first book but boy does he take a lovely turn in #2. Honestly? By book #3, I was so hooked I binge read the next 20 books. I never reread but I’ve read this series three times (back when it was about 35 books).

Oh everybody loves the series and him, that’s why in the first book I was like what is the big fuss about? But I’ve been told I need to keep going!
