Good Little Girls by Rita Herron

Tinsley Jensen suffers from agoraphobia, and rightly so. She was abducted, sexually violated and systematically tortured by a psychopath called the Skull for months until she was rescued by FBI Agent Wyatt Camden. He was severely injured in the process and the Skull escaped. Now that Wyatt has returned from medical leave, he’s determined to find Tinsley’s tormentor to release her from the emotional bondage that still overwhelms her.

This is a pretty disturbing story as Tinsley was horribly abused and is gripped with fear that she will be recaptured by her former tormentor whose face she never saw. It was so easy to identify with her fear as it was grounded in reality. There’s evidence she’s being stalked in her home and Wyatt never doubts her sightings as he understands her trauma. As we know from the first book, members of The Keepers, a vigilante group, are still out there, identities also unknown. There’s a lot going on, almost too much, that muddles the primary plot line at times. And, the author takes no prisoners so none of the characters are sacred or safe.

I liked the story, especially the narrator who I’ve enjoyed in the past. She is great at character distinction and storytelling. There were times when I had to seriously suspend belief as I know the FBI to be better skilled than they showed up here. Even so, this was a tightly woven plot with a lot of threads pulled, keeping it interesting and suspenseful. The exciting climax was commensurate with the heinous nature of the villain, meeting my expectations. I’m ready for the next book because there’s still more to this story.

  1. I enjoyed this book and this series. You’re right about suspending belief about the FBI but you know, fiction. Sometimes I can forgive things that don’t seem real and sometimes I don’t. Anne – Books of My Heart
