Thanks to Suzanne @ The Bookish Libra for introducing me to a challenge that fits me perfectly. This reading challenge, hosted by Austine @ NovelKnight, is all about knocking off those older books from your to-read list. Any genre, any format, any length. My goal is to read 80 books for this challenge.

Guidelines

  • The book must have been published in 2018 or earlier to count. It can be in any format (including an ARC/eARC) as long as the release date is earlier than 2019.
  • You have to start and finish the book in 2019 to count it. Any books started in 2018 and finished in 2019 do not count. Any books started in 2019 and finish in 2020 also do not count.
  • The challenge runs from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019(your local time).

Please keep in mind that while this reading challenge has several different community elements to it, reading through your TBR comes down to you!

How to Join

  • POST your backlist TBR for the year somewhere online! This can be in the form of a blog post, instagram photo caption, Twitter thread, Goodreads shelf, YouTube video, whatever works for you! You are NOT locked into these books, it’s just something to get you started! Make sure to share a link to this page somewhere in your post so others can find the challenge!
  • SIGN UP using the link below! Sign-ups will stay open all year long so you can join at any time.
  • READ backlist books and knock them off your TBR!
  • SHARE your updates on social media!

      1. Not really. I participated this year (2018) in this challenge (not as I wrote last year, sorry for the wrong info), but the moment I achieved my goal I was done with it. Sadly the way how this challenge is/was handled was not really for me. So I am doing another one next year to get rid of my TBR *smile*
I definitely need to see thumbnails while doing a challenge and need to see who else is participating without having to go into an extra spreadsheet. Don´t know if she does it in 2019 in a different way as in 2018, but I hope that you will have fun doing it and that you can read some of your TBR books.

        Best wishes
        Vi

      1. I think we are supposed to add our reads to a spreadsheet that will go live in January? So I guess it doesn’t matter if you are on a team or not since it’s basically the same work… Although I admit I was pretty bad adding my own read titles this year. xD

        1. There will be a google form this year where you can add your books read. Just a title and author (though you can add a link to your review if you want but it doesn’t count for anything extra).

And you don’t have to submit anything! It’s only if you want to earn points for your team which are calculated automatically as soon as you fill out the form! You can just read for fun and not submit anything!

  1. I’m sure I should do this challenge but I have to see how things go so I’m sticking with my usual ones for 2019. I’ll watch and cheer for you! Anne – Books of My Heart

  2. I am participating in this challenge as well. I declared myself as a Hufflepuff house member. Austine has streamlined it this year, so I am really looking forward to it. I look forward to seeing how well you do with the challenge as well!

  3. I won’t be participating officially, because I don’t want to stress myself with a challenge, but in 2019 I will be reading mostly back listed titles, because I have so many books I purchased and didn’t get to read yet.
    Good luck with your challenge.

  4. Cool challenge 🙂
I’m planning to read some of my “old” books next year, but won’t call it officially a challenge or anything to myself. Nothing to put me off doing something than the pressure of an event. 😀

  5. I sort of unofficially started doing this last year and continued it this year as well, and it’s made me SO happy. Good luck with your challenge and I hope there are lots of great titles lingering on your backlist! 🙂
