This story is a follow up to where Maybe Someday ends. If you haven’t read that book, I don’t recommend starting this one until you do. However, it’s not necessary to read the novella, Maybe Not, in order to enjoy this one, though I did.
Now that Ridge’s relationship with Maggie has ended, he and Sydney are fully exploring the new freedom to give into their true feelings. However, he and Warren are Maggie’s only support system and now what should that look like, be like? Maggie is enjoying her new freedom though she still has some resentment for how Ridge handled everything. Enter Jack, a man who helped her with the first item on her bucket list…and one more. Can she risk being in another relationship? How should she be living her life knowing that it’s on a short timeline?
I’m glad I waited so long to start this series because listening to them back to back made such a difference. While I could imagine what would be next for Ridge and Sydney, it wasn’t as easy figuring out the same for Maggie. I loved how the conflicts were presented and developed without any easy answers. It really helped having the points of view from Ridge, Sydney, Maggie & Jack. And let’s not forget Warren & Bridgette for comic relief.
I was thrilled, too, that the audiobook featured four narrators. I’m a big fan of using multiple narrators in books with more than one narrative and this one was an ideal example. I enjoyed all of them as they seemed to all “get” their characters. And, it was so easy to recognize the transitions as their voices were distinctively different. I loved the format and the story, even with its sort of fairy tale ending but it worked for me. And, having a musical construct as the foundation just made me love it even more.

I have only read one Colleen Hoover – It Ends with Us and loved it! I really need to put her on my radar. I feel like I am missing out!

I love multiple narrators, too, Jonetta! This is a great reminder I need to read Maybe Someday…I think I may also have the novella, too. I have a few CoHo books hoarded unread because I love her so much. I need to get over it! 😂 Wonderful review!

Thank you, Jennifer! That novella was free for a bit and I got the audiobook from the library. It was so much fun listening to them back to back. I’m hoarding her books, too💜

I’m seeing more and more stories with multiple narrators for books with multiple POVs. I’ve yet to really try that many of them. It isn’t that I don’t want to try them, I’m just not seeing them as much in the books I’ve tried. I still listen to mostly single narrator performances. Glad this story worked out so well for you. Great review.

Thanks, Melanie! I listen to a lot of British crime & mysteries and most use multiple narrators. But, I’m seeing the trend emerge in contemporary romances produced by the major audio publishers.
