Welcome to my Friday feature! Created by the wonderful Meggy @ Chocolate ‘n’ Waffles, it’s a remedy against feeling down by creating a list of all the good things happening in my life this week. I became so inspired by her weekly posts and later also that by Nickimags @ Secret Library Book Blog, I felt it was time to begin sharing my own good feelings. It can be anything, from the smallest gesture from a stranger to a major event in your life that alters the direction of your day. Maybe something here will bring a smile to you in the moment.
I know deep in my heart that I have lots to be grateful for in the midst of all the worldwide worry and concern. If I keep my focus on gratitude, I’ll feel its constant presence.
I finally finished a major project I put off for weeks. My procrastination has kept me up at night but I was reluctant to do it for many reasons. It was hard and complicated. Now that it’s done? Sleeping peacefully.
I bought a laptop! It’s my first one (personal, not business) and it replaces my dying desktop that I’ve had for almost eight years. It practically begged me to let it die in peace (many alerts about memory issues, slow as molasses) but it’s been good to me. This was a hard decision and thankfully I’ve a cousin that could advise on the replacement.
Despite the rain, the weather has been deliciously cooler and humidity free! I’m loving every minute of it.
Today is Juneteenth. For 155 years, the Black community has celebrated Juneteenth, a day that marks the end of slavery and the independence of countless enslaved people that actually came two-and-a-half years after Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.
The holiday, also known as Black Independence Day, isn’t widely taught in schools. For the first time in my memory, significant attention is being given to it in all media around the world.
I seriously overcommitted in group reads and blog tours this month and feared I’d be under water. However! I haven’t missed a deadline yet and am on target to make it…six down, four to go.
I’m not the best cook but am learning to use spices. I roasted chicken thighs this week using Indian spices and some olive oil. This isn’t the picture but comes close to what it looked like. Hubby loved it and I thought it tasted great.😏
I figured out a technical resolution to a problem that’s persisted for over three months. My new laptop will solve it but in the meantime, I’m now able to get the audiobooks offered by one publisher for review. It’s been painful passing up some great titles in the meantime.
I recommended this book for library purchase and the prerelease notification showed up this week…I’m first in line on release day for the new book in my most favorite series!🥰
I continue to pause and reflect upon the people and things in my life that truly matter. For that, I’m grateful.
Wonderful week Jonetta. I love my laptop and don’t know what I would have done without it. When if was in getting a new screen (I dropped something on it and broke it) I thought I would go crazy. Isn’t it great when you finish something. What a great feeling of accomplishment. Have a great weekend Jonetta.

Thank you, Carla💜 I’m really happy to hear you love your laptop. Must admit I’m a little nervous about the change so that’s helpful!
Have a fantastic week!

Yay! All good stuff. I’m glad you are having success with your cooking experiments. I also have loved the cooler weather this week. I made the transition to laptop at one point and I know you can do it! They did not teach Juneteenth in rural Iowa. Was it called that initially in the 1800s or did that name start sometime in the last 50 years?
I hope you have another week of amazing things for you!

Thank you, Anne💜 Great to know your transition to a laptop went well! Makes me less nervous.
I don’t know when Juneteenth became the name to commemorate the event. It wasn’t taught in any of the five states where I attended school, nor in Europe for the three years we lived there.
I’m so enjoying this weather! Have a wonderful week🥰

Sorry about the desktop but hey, great news about a new laptop. Whoopee for you. And I’m curious at the task keeping you awake at night, but glad to hear you sorted it and are sleeping better. And who doesn’t love spiced chicken, said no one ever. Right? ☺️ And here’s to everyone understanding what Juneteenth means to the black community and joining in support against hatred.

Thanks, Alexandra💜 That task was a six month billing for that beach property and updates of family past due accounts. One great outcome of the procrastination? I came up with a better solution for charting the past due mess that simplified everything going forward. Came to me in a dream😏
Have a great week!

The satisfaction of finishing a project is such a wonderful feeling ❤ Congratulations!!! I am in dire need of cooler temperatures!
Yay for the new laptop, it can only help to write more, do more, and make life easier!
I was happy to see more awareness about Juneteenth. To be honest, in France, we had no idea what it was, so I've learned a lot.
Have a lovely week xxxx

Thank you, Meggy💜 It is outstanding that understanding of Juneteenth reached your country. It’s a powerful moment in the US and we’re hoping for massive change.
Normally, temperatures here are insufferable. I continue to believe that the change in human behavior is influencing our weather.
Happy week to you🥰

Hope you love your laptop and that chicken dish looks yummy! We should all start a recipe exchange someday. Finishing a project always gives you a good feeling. Never heard of Juneteenth and I taught for 30 years. My very good friend was a history teacher at the same time and she never heard of it either. You learn something new everyday!
We took a trip to our old neighborhood this past week, saw our daughter and her family, bought our eldest granddaughter an iphone for graduation, and saw our old neighbors. It was treat! Today we are off to a barbecue at our other daughter’s. …..and tomorrow is Father’s Day.
Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Thank you, Marialyce💜 I’ve long felt that our country needs to take on the mission of rewriting the history books used in education. It astounds me what I’ve learned post college that should have been fundamental to my basic education. I’ll keep hammering the thought.
Congrats on that trip! It must have felt wonderful seeing your family in Virginia. Have fun at the barbecue🥰

Good week for you!!! Also, well done with being first in line for the next JD Robb, I’ll probably have to wait 6 month -lol. But I did go and recommended it at one of my libraries, it’s not the fasted one of all my libraries with new purchases, but I’ll keep on recommending. 😀

I remember recommending this as soon as it was announced and showed up on Overdrive! Thought I’d be close to the top but this was a surprise. You keep recommending!
