Welcome to my Friday feature! Created by the wonderful Meggy @ Chocolate ‘n’ Waffles, it’s a remedy against feeling down by creating a list of all the good things happening in my life this week. I became so inspired by her weekly posts and later also that by Nickimags @ Secret Library Book Blog, I felt it was time to begin sharing my own good feelings. It can be anything, from the smallest gesture from a stranger to a major event in your life that alters the direction of your day. Maybe something here will bring a smile to you in the moment.
I know deep in my heart that I have lots to be grateful for in the midst of all the worldwide worry and concern. If I keep my focus on gratitude, I’ll feel its constant presence.
We met with our tax accountant yesterday and we’re getting a net refund between federal and state! Woo hoo!
Looks like we’re going to be wearing masks for the foreseeable future. My hair salon mate (woman whose appointment has been right before mine for years) was wearing a Dallas Cowboys mask! Aside from not knowing we had the love of this team in common (and we have LOTS of other common interests), I didn’t know they were making them. Off to Amazon and mine is being delivered today!
FYI, my hair salon is super safe and this customer and I are the only two in the space during our time there. We’ve both been sheltering at home since March.
Hubby had to have his iPhone replaced…free of charge! They gave him another 5C😏 He’s happy and we found his next phone when this one dies.
Watched this Saturday night and it surpassed my EXTREMELY high expectations!!! So much so that I’m rewatching it today. One of my biggest regrets was not having seen it on Broadway with the original cast. This was better so regrets no more💜💜💜 Thank you Lin Manuel Miranda & Disney+!
Our weekly family calls continue and I love how much we laugh together! My uncle is 90-years old and housebound so the joy we see on his face gives us light.
Three days this week already and I plan another workout this afternoon. Feels like I’ve got a habit forming😏
My two sisters, one who has a compromised immune system, are still able to work from home, full time. They’re encouraged by their employers to do so. I’m happy for them and it eliminates my worry for them.
I’m reading this series, Mercy Kilpatrick, with a Goodreads group and we love it. This month we’re reading what we thought would be the next to the last book in the series but discovered the author is currently writing another one now for release in 2021. We’re ecstatic!🥰
I continue to pause and reflect upon the people and things in my life that truly matter. For that, I’m grateful.
I still can’t get my hair cut here in Scotland yet! JEALOUS 😀 😀 And we are now wearing face masks everywhere too – it’s still odd but I’m sure it will become the new normal.
Have a lovely weekend xx

Thank you, Jules💜 I know your hair pain! My hair dresser has her salon in the lower level of her home (split level) so it’s very controlled. Otherwise, I wouldn’t feel comfortable going. There’s never more than the three of us there. During that stay at home order, my hair was a mess after two months!
Enjoy your weekend!

That sounds like a great set up! I don’t dye my hair anymore after having a bit of an allergic reaction a few years ago but I can’t wait to get it chopped! x

I go to a hair place that has individual rooms for the clients. it works so well and makes me a happy camper having my hair done. Glad you are able to get yours done, Jonetta. Makes us feel human again.
We are doing our walking in the am and don’t wear a mask. If we meet someone they and we move to opposite sides of the street. I am still convinced that fresh air is good medicine.
Company is on approach this weekend. Our former neighbors are coming from Va. We will be going out to eat tomorrow.
and our twin baby girl has started to walk. Her brother has been walking for over a month. She is a bit of a lazy bones.
So happy to hear of your tax refund. We just sent off our federal taxes ugh…
Have a wonderful rest of the weekend!

Oh, it makes such a difference to have my hair done again! Glad you’re able to do it safely, too.
When I was walking outside, I didn’t wear a mask, either, as I relied on social distancing. When it started getting crowded, I gave it up. Glad it’s working out for you.
We had to pay federal but it was a small amount. I was thrilled, especially since we get a state refund. The new federal tax law has killed us.
Have a great time this weekend, Marialyce💜

Happy to hear you are safe and well when getting your hair done. We are still waiting for our salon to open again. They are fully booked for almost 2 months, when they do.
We finally got our 4 masks we’d ordered, and while pretty, they aren’t up to much. Not really happy, so we might be ordering more.
I still have my iPhone 5c (green) as well, as a back up should anything happen to my current iPhone 7, which I got for free from my service provider. Yeah, I know, it’s not really free. But I’m not going with another company at this stage.
And, as always, I too have plenty to be thankful for, not least the book community and people over on twitter who keep my sanity in place, and grounded!
Have a great weekend, Sweetie.

I’m not surprised your salons are already booked. I weighed in with mine one month early😏
What was the problem with the masks? Bummer. We still have a supply of surgical masks, too.
What would we do without this book community?! I don’t want to know.
Have a fantastic weekend, Alexandra💜

I’m so happy these things make you happy. We got a tax refund when I did our stuff in April. I make our masks myself with fabrics where the pieces are too small for other sewing. Luckily I have plenty of elastic because I have made us pajamas and even swim suits and apparently I don’t throw anything away I might be able to use later. I haven’t cut my hair much in the last 20 years because I’ve always been growing it to donate every 2-3 years. Now that I don’t have bangs I don’t even think of it. And I’m also excited about a new Mercy Kilpatrick book.

Oh, how I wish I could sew. I stink at it.
My hair is longer now but I’m too old to grow it out. Kudos to you for donating your hair. I think that’s just wonderful.
Have a great weekend, Anne💜

Your 90-year old uncle knows how to do Zoom – that is so cool! I love your Dallas Cowboys mask. So far I haven’t been wearing masks, but the official policy in the UK has just changed and now they are encouraging people to go back to the office. So I bought a bunch of these boring surgical masks. Very envious of yours! 😀

Haha! No, my uncle’s granddaughter signs him on to Zoom. No way could he navigate this himself.
I’ve been wearing surgical masks since March and this is my first step into the non-boring zone😏

I think the hair dressers open here in Scotland this Wednesday, my husband has the longest hair, he looks so funny!
I just got plain old boring masks, I wish I’d got something better now, I think we will bee wearing them for a while so might get something quirky.
I’ve been watching Hamilton with my eldest, we are halfway through and loving it.
Have a good week.

My hubby was starting to look a little scraggly, too😁 Good luck with your return to the hair dresser!
I only had surgical masks, too, so this was a big step for me. Hope you find something whimsical!
Woo hoo! Glad you’re loving Hamilton.
Have a fabulous week💜

Yay for the refund!! It doesn’t happen often! Usually we have to pay EVEN MORE!
Oh I miss working out! I’m jealous, haha! It’s too hot and I’m not disciplined enough to get up at 6am to run!
I badly want to go to the hairdresser, and I know they’re really careful with everything, but it’s a step I’m not comfortable with yet. My grey hair is going to stay a bit longer!
Your post made me happy xxx

It is rare for us to get a net refund so we’re doing a happy dance☺️
I normally walk to walk outside, too, but it’s too humid. So, it’s the treadmill for us.
I hear you about the hairdresser. I’m ultra picky so you know mine must be safe.
Have a fabulous week, Meggy💜

What a great week Jonetta. Despite stay at home orders, it is great to see you are still able to connect with family and take care of yourself as well. Congrats on getting back a refund, I am paying big time this year due to the rental house. I so hope to have it sold by the end of the year. I felt very safe at my hair stylists as well. Nice to be able to do that and not have to worry. I hope you have a great week coming up.

Thanks Jo, I sure hope it is gone sooner rather than later. It has been tough being a landlord since my husband passed.
