Saturdays at the Café is a weekly feature hosted here to talk about and discuss the books I’ve discovered during the past week, added to my shelf and am excited about reading. They may be new/scheduled releases I’ve seen on NetGalley, at the library, or from publishers or they may be older titles my friends have reviewed and shared on Goodreads or blogs.

I’d decided to pass on this book but friend after friend kept giving it high marks. It showed up at my library so I’m jumping in, of course on audio.

I hadn’t heard anything about this book until I read the fabulous review by Nicki @ Secret Library Book Blog. I had no choice after that and I’m hoping for library purchase when it’s released in the US in March.

Welcome to Cobble Hill.

This was offered for audio review and I was immediately drawn to this brand of contemporary fiction. Can’t wait to get into these characters.

This is the author’s debut novel and I was willing to take a chance on it when it was offered for audio reading as I found the description compelling. It was later selected by the Read With Jenna book club.

Beautifully written, original, and revealing, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents is an eye-opening story of people and history, and a reexamination of what lies under the surface of ordinary lives and of American life today.

My cousin recommended this book by the Pulitzer Prize winning author and it’s also an Oprah Book Club pick. I finally found another book lover in my family so I’m reading whatever she recommends! And, it was available at my library.

Okay, fantasy is way out of my comfort zone sometimes and I was on the fence about this one, despite rave reviews from some of my trusted friends. But it was the lovely review by Lashaan @ Bookidote that pushed me over the edge and I got the audiobook from the library.

I’ve made no secret of my fandom for this author so when I saw this book featured by Suzanne @ The Bookish Libra in her Can’t Wait Wednesday post, I immediately added it even though it’s not scheduled for release until May. It’s an audio review hopeful.

I fell for this at the title when it was offered for audio review. And when I read the reviews, discovered that it’s much more than a traditional romance.

*sigh* I haven’t had the best of luck with this author but a friend wants us to do a buddy read and Kyra @ Roots & Reads assured me that my concerns about my past history don’t seem to be issues here. Plus, my library had the audiobook. Fingers crossed 🤞
