After having successfully meddled in his granddaughters’ lives and matched them with their now husbands, Daniel MacGregor sets his eyes on his grandsons. D.C. MacGregor, Alan & Shelby’s son, is an artist and has recently returned to Washington DC. Duncan Blade, Serena & Justin’s youngest son, is managing the family’s riverboat gambling casino, Comanche Princess. Ian MacGregor, Caine & Diana’s son, is now a lawyer and has joined the family law firm in Boston. Daniel has gotten even cagier as none of them suspect he manipulated the first meetings with the women they’re now interested in pursuing.
With each new book in this series, the stories get stronger and the romances better are crafted. D.C. accompanies Layna Drake to a charitable event thinking he’s doing a favor for a family friend. They are clearly opposites in so many ways but their attraction is immediate and rejected by both. Duncan hires a new headline singer, Cat Farrell (recommended surreptitiously by Daniel), who has an incredible voice and a personality and wit to match the urbane Duncan. They are extremely well suited and the banter is fun. Ian goes to the historic family-owned Brightstone bookstore to pick up books requested by Daniel (of course) and meets with Naomi Brightstone who captures his imagination immediately. He mistakes her shyness for disinterest and it takes a moment for them to find their way.
Each grandson’s story is presented separately so this is akin to three individual novellas. I enjoyed all of them as each had their own charm and unique premises. It was also satisfying to get updates on other family members, including the married granddaughters. This was a welcome change of pace from my mysteries, suspense and family dramas and I look forward to the final book in the series.

Thank you, Marialyce💜 I struggled with the first few books in this series and would have given up if not for the group read. It’s wonderful to see the change in the quality of the romances, sans all that behavior that bordered on harassment. It’s gonna end on a high note.

I read this one so long ago, that I didn’t even review back then. I remember reading all the books in the McGregor series and agree, they got better with each book. Pure escapism and fun.

I came to NR books very late in the game when her new stuff was just so appealing. I always wanted to go back and read some of the older titles and this series had a rough start (the old tropes and behaviors we find unacceptable now). But, this was like the NR I’ve come to adore.

O my gosh! I read those books ages ago and LOVED THEM. Didn´t write a review back then and maybe should re-read them to write one *smile* I bought the entire series when paperbacks were about 5 bucks each and not as expensive as they are today …
