For Your Own Good by Samantha Downing @smariedowning @DavidPittu @PRHAudio

Meet Teddy Cutcher. He’s the Teacher of the Year at the prestigious and exclusive Belmont Academy and teaches English…along with a few other lessons. See, Teddy believes it’s his added responsibility to bring some of these students down a size, for their own good, even if it means destroying them (and others in the way) using unconventional methods.

Whoa! This is all kinds of crazy sauce, deliciously served up in the most clever of packages. Teddy is very definitely a psychopath but not the kind that’s obvious to any but those who have suffered because of him. But, by the time he’s done with them, their credibility is below zero and no one would believe them. And if there was any chance of that, he’d figure out how to permanently dispose of them.

As captivating and outrageous as Teddy was, I really wanted him to be caught, but only in as diabolical a way as he would concoct. It was impossible to put this book down and the narrator made that even more difficult. His depiction of Teddy was dead on but he was equally adept at voicing everyone else. Get ready for a fun but macabre psychological thriller that doesn’t believe that anything could be considered over the top. It just works here and there’s no clue how this was going to work out. I had my suspicions, came close, but wasn’t invested in being right. This is definitely going to be on my list of favorites for the year.

  1. Wow, favourite of the year! That’s high praise indeed, and damn you lady, but now I have to add yet another rec to my wish list. You know you’re killing me here! But in the best way possible. 😀
