Saturdays at the Café is a weekly feature hosted here to talk about and discuss the books I’ve discovered during the past week, added to my shelf and am excited about reading. They may be new/scheduled releases I’ve seen on NetGalley, at the library, or from publishers or they may be older titles my friends have reviewed and shared on Goodreads or blogs.

True Crime Story is an ambitious, sharp exploration of our obsession with all things true crime, from a former crime book seller.

I took one look at this when it was offered for audio review and snapped it up. I’ve been obsessed with true crime for many years but not this current fascination with amateur podcasters. They scare me.

This got my attention primarily because of the narrator (Kirsten Potter) but the description is also appealing.

It wouldn’t be complete today without a book from Suzanne @ The Bookish Libra and her Can’t Wait Wednesday post. This sounds amazing and is a library audiobook hopeful.

If you follow my blog, you probably know that I’m a fan of this author. This is a new book unconnected (for now) to any of her current series. I’m getting it for audio review.

Green is one of my favorite authors but I haven’t started this series yet. Thanks to Jacob @ Hooked From Page One for featuring her new release (this is the one before), reminding me to purchase this one. I’m planning on scheduling a binge read in 2022.

This is the second book in the Lord Peter Wimsey series but I’ve added all of them. I listened to the first book years ago but the narrator was just horrid. The story was good but was buried under a terrible audio performance. A longtime Goodreads friend reached out to ask the name of that narrator and then told me how fantastic her narrator Ian Carmichael is. So, I checked him out and he’s indeed great. I also discovered between Audible and my library, I could get all of the books in the series narrated by him!
