Everybody is a Liar by Liv Constantine @LivConstantine2 #BarrieKreinik @SaskiaAudio @Shayr_Stories @JenniferJAraya #DannyCampbell

the setup…
Julie Buckley is a successful writer married to Oliver, a plastic surgeon. Their marriage has dulled during the past year but recently she’s come to suspect he might be having an affair. After she takes steps to confirm it, Julie confides in her best friend Darby who recommends couple counseling. Julie and Oliver both attend and Liza, their therapist, seems to be helping. But then, someone is murdered and Liza begins to suspect that one of her patients may be involved, coming to the conclusion that everybody has lied.

the heart of the story…
Listen closely because all of the characters have a point of view and you’ll need to decide whether they’re reliable narrators. I got on the right track but still was unsure. It was intriguing from the onset and never let me go. Speculation was fun and listening for the lies was crucial.

the narration…
What a difference a full cast narration makes! The story is strong on its own but having multiple narrators for these characters was next level. And, some of my favorites are on the list. The storytelling was fantastic.

the bottom line…
This is a gem of a short story with a clever little ending. See if you can spot who’s being truthful…or not. Loved everything about it.

  1. I also enjoy an ensemble cast in an audiobook, Jo. This sounds like a good one. I do like an unreliable narrator, as well as trying to figure out who is telling the truth. Great review.
