the setup…
Amber Patterson has a plan. First of all, it’s not her real name but one she bought and paid for after skipping her hometown in Missouri and hitchhiking to Nebraska. She’s determined to leave her past behind and does her research to find the wealthy man who’ll take care of her. Amber ends up in Gunnison, Colorado and hones in on a seriously wealthy Texan who vacations there. And she’s off!

the heart of the story…
I’ve wanted to start this series for some time and now that the second prequel is being released, I jumped in. This is Amber’s backstory and she’s single minded and scary. I’m not sure how she shows up later but my imagination is now endless given how she targeted Jake, a man who was seasoned enough to know better. But, she’s good.

the narration…
Suzanne Elise Freeman nailed Amber! I’m so glad I listened to the story as I could hear the seductiveness and subterfuge.

the bottom line…
I’m now champing at the bit to get started because this has an explosive ending. Prequels are supposed to set up the main characters and this one did the job exceptionally well…that is if she’s highly manipulative going forward.
