Dear Debbie by Freida McFadden @fmcfaddenauthor @justjuliawhelan @januarylavoy @thescottbrick @dreamscape_media @dreamscape-media.bsky.social #DearDebbie

the setup…
Debbie Mullen is an unassuming suburban housewife who writes an advice column called Dear Debbie for the local newspaper. She’s married to Cooper, an accountant, and they have two daughters, teenager Lexi and pre-teen Izzy. All was working fine…until it fell apart. Debbie lost her job, Lexi is in trouble and husband Cooper is hiding something. She’s taking off the gloves and going for payback to those who’ve done her wrong. See, Debbie has always found little ways to get revenge on those who have mistreated her or her family. Now? Uh, oh.

the heart of the story…
Debbie’s advice column should have been a clue as she gave other women with hubbies behaving badly somewhat twisted advice. This woman is no one to mess with. With her genius IQ, Debbie comes up with revenge plots that are…inspired! I felt a bit guilty in not feeling bad about some of her retributions and silently rooting for her not to get caught!

the narration…
Julia Whelan and January LaVoy are my top two favorite narrators and along with Scott Brick (another favorite), they delivered rock star performances. And, Julia was quite chilling as our girl Debbie. This was listening heaven.

the bottom line…
This is my first full length novel by the author and now I know what all the fuss is about. I won’t be forgetting Debbie and even though some of her actions were beyond the pale, her targets…well, they did her really wrong. Karma is truly…well, you know the rest. Grab your popcorn and be ready for a great ride.
