the setup…
There’s a new serial killer in the midst and she leaves a calling card…literally. This killer leaves a Queen of Hearts behind, along with a unique mutilation. Lost and Found, Inc. is asked to join the FBI task force to help find her as she swaths a bloody path. Operative Dalton Murphy is teamed up with FBI Special Agent Ashley Hunter and both are surprised at their immediate personal attraction as they race to find and capture this dangerous woman.
the heart of the story…
Dalton is known for his one-and-done romance pattern so his friends and colleagues recognize that his feelings for Ashley are far different. They make a good team as he has great instincts and connections and she’s highly skilled at using technology to track and find connections. Their relationship hit steamy rather quickly but they both brought out the best in each other. The case was grisly at times but the killer was interesting and ruthless. It helped having her point of view, especially when things started getting personal.
the bottom line…
I’ve loved this series and was thrilled to see it resumed after a long hiatus. This was an interesting case and the romance between Dalton and Ashley made the story even more enjoyable. I liked that they were more vulnerable with each other and never let their relationship interfere with the case. Getting updates on earlier characters was an added bonus. And, looks like we’re going to get a spinoff, which is great as I can’t seem to get enough of these operatives and their growing families.
