the setup…
Sam and Nick are focused on their wedding plans now that it’s a week away but of course she is also drawn into two cold cases that are pretty dangerous. And, both she and Nick are coping with a loss they hadn’t seen coming. Thankfully, the wedding planner Nick hired is turning out to be the Godsend they didn’t realize they needed.
the heart of the story…
Nick is concerned about Sam’s state of mind and that she’ll take risks that might put her in harm’s way before the wedding. She’s concerned about disappointing him, continuing to keep things from him for his own emotional “protection.” Been there, done that but she is getting better. But “Tinker Bell’s” plans for the perfect wedding seem to be materializing despite these two extraordinarily difficult clients.
the narration…
The first time I listened to this story it was with another narrator. I opted to get the updated version because she’s who I later identified with the series and characters. It was the right decision as her storytelling skills bring something different to the experience.
the bottom line…
I enjoyed the story this second time around as much as I did the first time, possibly more. There are some continuing story arcs I’m strongly interesting in seeing resolved, especially the one involving Scotty Dunlap, the 12-year old boy from the state home with whom Nick has developed a strong bond. This almost felt like my first time!

That’s interesting that it was re-recorded with a different narrator. Eva Kaminsky is one of my favourite narrators. Wonderful review.

Thank you, Jodie💜 I think they had to change the narrator and reaction by fans had Force go back and re-record the first three. She’s that good and the change was rather dramatic.

I tried one on audio and immediately switched to that format, beginning with #4. That was when Force switched to Kaminsky. Her voices for the characters make such a difference.
