Fatal Jeopardy by Marie Force #MarieForce #EvaKaminsky #FatalSeries

the setup…
Sam and Nick return home late one evening to find her niece, Brooke, naked, wrapped in a sheet, bruised, covered in blood and unconscious on their doorstep. She was supposed to be at the school for troubled girls in Richmond. As Sam tries to figure out what happened to her, it’s soon clear that Brooke was somehow connected with a disturbing homicide at the home of one of her teenaged friends.

the heart of the story…
This was a tough, heartbreaking story, at times hard for me to take in. It’s well done and highlights some of the troubling issues our teens face today. Sam’s involvement in the investigation stepped over that fine line between acceptable and conflicting interests several times, without ethical remorse and that bugged me.

the narration…
I may sound like a broken record about Eva Kaminsky’s series performance but my praise cannot be overstated. She brings the story and characters to life.

the bottom line…
While there is other drama going on, Brooke’s situation was the one that had me riveted. The ending was exciting with lots of unanswered questions. And, Nick and Sam have to make some life altering decisions. Still loving this series the second time around.

    1. Eva is just so very, very good at this. Since this is an ongoing series with lots of subplots, I expect stuff to be continued so it doesn’t give me heartburn like a typical cliffhanger. Plus, our group read discussions let’s us theorize a lot, which is fun.

  1. It sounds like some difficult themes in this one, Jo. I have listened to a lot of books narrated by Eva Kaminsky and I do enjoy her performances. She is one I don’t hesitate to listen to. I’m glad this is still a series that you love.
