the setup…
Lieutenant Sam Holland and her team of detectives are up against a cold blooded killer this time who is indiscriminately selecting victims for deadly drive-by shootings. It’s a tough and heartbreaking case given the absence of connections between the murder victims and their innocence.
the heart of the story…
I really enjoyed this story as there is a perfect balance between the case procedurals, issues relating to other secondary characters, family drama, romance and Sam’s duties as the Second Lady. Absent is the normal tug-of-war between Sam and security that I’ve found troubling in past stories (thank goodness!). The story is well paced and moves seamlessly from scene to scene. And, there were many light-hearted moments amidst the death and chaos.
the narration…
Eva Kaminsky nails each character (I actually love her interpretation of Freddie) and delivers an outstanding performance.
the bottom line…
I’m still loving this series and like how some of the outstanding issues were advanced in this story. There are still challenges to face going forward, especially as it relates to Nick’s political career.
