the heart of the story…
Bree’s mantra as a detective is always follow the evidence even while developing theories. She and Matt Flynn, her chief investigator and live-in partner, are meticulous in their approach and I loved following their procedurals. The red herrings didn’t distract me and I thought I had this licked…close but no proverbial cigar. And, there is significant focus on the K-9 teams, exploring their unique personalities and skills.

the narration…
Christina Traister is the voice of this series and she even sounds like my version of Bree. She’s an excellent storyteller and I love her tone.

the bottom line…
I couldn’t wait to start this story and it hooked me from page one. The plotting and character development are outstanding and I had no trouble assembling the clues and developing credible theories. It’s not all business as there are significant events on the personal front, both for Bree and her family and other team members. And, Morgan Dane from the earlier series makes an appearance in a substantive way. I hope this one never ends.
