Amy Casey is a divorced mother of two teenaged sons and is an HR manager. She’s always dreamed of being a painter so when a local art gallery sponsors a contest for the holidays, Amy decides to sign up. Needing time away from the demands of her family and work to focus, her best friend comes to her rescue, allowing Amy free rein of her family’s lake house mansion. It’s absolutely perfect…until she finds it already occupied. Professional golfer Harrison Neely had already rented the house!

the heart of the story…
First of all, Amy and Harrison are mature characters in their forties so after the initial shock and surprise, they do the adult thing and agree to share the place. After all, it’s a mansion. He’s there to reflect on his career, at a crossroad following an injury. They connect pretty quickly, both finding it easy to relate to one another. Things go haywire when both are interrupted by her family and his pressuring manager. Amy and Harrison have a new problem as their fling feels like something much more.

the narration…
Amy McFadden brought a lightness to this story and expertly managed voice distinctions for a host of quirky characters. Her performance was delightful.

the bottom line…
This was a breath of fresh air as the story was fun and the maturity of the characters brought sensibility to the problems they contemplated and those they faced after well meaning “buttinskies” invaded their space. It was a fun, romantic and festive experience that left me in the holiday spirit.
