the setup…
Riley Thorn isn’t living her best life. Divorced, money strapped and working in a dead end job, she’s also living in an aging mansion with equally aging roommates. The owners are senior twin brother and sister, illegally renting out rooms but calling the quirky residents “family.” Riley has her own quirk…see, she hears voices and sees the future, though she tries to hide it. But when she has a vision of the man across the hall being murdered, she takes it seriously. Enter Nick Santiago, a sexy private investigator who is on a mission to find the killer, keep Riley safe…and at a distance.
the heart of the story…
Riley is at the center of it all and she’s surrounded by the greatest assembly of odd and unique characters I’ve experienced in some time. Yes, the murder is serious but I’ve not had such a good time laughing in a while. It’s laugh-out-loud funny and I most enjoyed Riley’s voices with the other side and her romantic dance with Nick.
the narration…
Natalie Duke has some serious skills and I’m glad I opted for the audio edition. She developed distinct voices for all those unique characters and her storytelling was off-the-charts outstanding.
the bottom line…
This is seriously funny and entertaining. It is probably longer than it needed to be but I couldn’t seem to get enough of these people. It’s a wonderful start to the series and I can’t wait to see what’s next for the entire gang.

Fab review! I remember having so much fun reading this one, even though it was a bit overlong like you said. You’ve reminded me I really need to continue the series next year! xx
