The Mobile Response Team’s latest case is in Jacksonville, Florida at the exclusive Sapphire Shoals Spa Resort where three newlywed couples stayed and were later found dead. FBI Agent Matt Costa (also the team’s leader) and Detective Kara Quinn, who has a striking resemblance to the victims, go undercover as newlyweds to bait and catch the killer. When they successfully capture Garrett Reid, Matt and Kara decide to stay the rest of the weekend and get some much needed private time. But when they both fail to show up for meetings on that Monday, it becomes clear that not only are they missing but Garrett seems to have had a partner. Meanwhile, Matt and Kara awaken from a drugged stupor to a nightmare…they’re in an unknown, remote and dangerous location and fighting to stay alive.

Wow! Just…wow! Without giving anything away, Matt and Kara are facing one of their biggest challenges ever as the place is laden with lethal boobytraps. I felt like I was holding my breath as it was a race against time (no food or water) while the team desperately tried to figure out where they were and the identity of the partner in crime.

Suzanne Fortin delivered a fine piece of storytelling, keeping me enthralled and giving distinctive voices where it mattered. I hung on her every word.
the bottom line…
Love the series, love the team but this was something more. Every member rose to the moment and did what they do best in their respective roles. The procedurals were superb and it was exciting to follow along as they unraveled the case. Matt & Kara are highly skilled but were physically taxed and brought to the brink. Brennan is a favorite but this story far, far surpassed my expectations.
