These two novellas are a prelude to Consumed, the first book in the new Firefighters series, coming soon to the Blue Mood Cafe!
Interesting prelude to the series.
Anne Ashburn and Danny Maguire are both firefighters in the same company, now having to be part of the wedding party for Moose Miller, his best friend and roommate and her firefighter brother. Unfortunately, he’s marrying Bridezilla who’s also got some shade in her background. Adding to this toxic mix is Anne and Danny’s strong attraction to each other that they’re fighting hard to resist.
This was a nice tease, especially as I’m jumping right into the next novella. I like Anne, like Danny but that wedding and reception promises truly to be the wedding from Hell.
Firefighters Anne Ashburn and Danny Maguire are now at the wedding from Hell, still struggling with their now explosive attraction. The day of reckoning is upon them.
There’s a lot more going on in this second novella and I felt like I had a better sense of Danny and somewhat more of Anne. Things progressed rather quickly with some interesting tangents (and steam). It was a nice set up for their upcoming story because it is certainly to be continued. And the wedding couple is probably going to end up being in the marriage from Hell. Classic J. R. Ward!

Terrific review, Jonetta! The novellas sound like a great start to a promising series! I hope you enjoy every bit! Now one of these days I’ll read a J.R. book or two I own!

What an interesting premise to these stories. Not read anything by this author. I should probably take a look. Terrific reviews!

Thank you, Marialyce! Ward writes very frankly, holds nothing back. One of her classic approaches is to write characters’ inner dialogues just as one would think it. It’s very entertaining.

Ha! And here i was thinking this is some wedding-horror and got excited for a moment 😀
Based on the first cover i never would have thought it’s romance.

😁It never occurred to me but now that you brought it up, it does look kind of sinister! It was lots of wedding horror but not the blood and guts kind…😏

They really are! However, they have the standard Ward approach to character dialogue…lots of unique slang and plenty of steam.

Have you read consumed? I really enjoyed her other non-paranormal serious and I cannot remember the name at the moment!
This looks really interesting I love reading books about people that don’t get along with each other, LOL!

I’ve got Consumed coming up. I think the series you’re recalling is The Bourbon Kings, which I really liked.

I love Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series, so I may have to add this one too! She’s a one of a kind author…I love her writing style! Great reviews, Jonetta, you’ve definitely piqued my interest in these!

Thanks, Stephanie! I’m just starting to listen to the first full book in the series. I’m a big fan of BDB, too!

Everyone but me has read J.R. Ward, and I’m not really sure why I haven’t yet! I’m going to have to venture in… =D

I absolutely love the Black Dagger Brotherhood series and it’s one of the few vampire series I stuck with. You’ll know from the first book if it’s your cuppa.

I’ll have to look it up. I’m not usually a ‘vampire’ type of reader – are they all paranormal?

Her BDB series is paranormal but her The Bourbon Kings series is not, nor is this one. I’m not big on vampires either but have a few authors (Lara Adrian, Jeaniene Frost) whose vamp series I love and followed.
