I’m currently reading this series with one of my Goodreads groups, one book a month. So, I thought I’d share my reviews here as we complete them. This series has a continuing story arc and should be read in order. This is the final book in the series.
It’s almost Christmas and Alex and Grace Rycroft are hosting the team at their new home in upstate New York right before the holiday. But first, they’re attending a gala in the city in honor of the foundation Hunter Phillips and Khalia Patterson set up for veterans injured in combat. Unknown to them, however, there’s someone with an axe to grind with Hunter and Khalia and determined to spoil their evening.
The last book felt like closure for the series so this was a nice bonus. Cross really excels at writing action scenes and it was seriously on display in this story. Some of them left me breathless and I was spellbound as the scenes in the limo, on the street and the subway unfolded. It was a fine piece of writing.
I’ve enjoyed the series and appreciate the attention given here to the realities of emotional injuries experienced by the men and women in combat, along with the physical. We can’t be reminded enough. I liked how the stories for each team member closed and loved reading this series as a group.

It sounds like a wonderful ending to a series you enjoyed, Jonetta. I agree about not hearing about those things enough. We need to be reminded. Terrific review!

How nice that a series you so enjoyed ended so well. PTSD should never be ignored.

Thanks, Anne! There’s one book, I believe it’s #2, that was a little disappointing but otherwise, a satisfying reading experience.
