Welcome to my Friday feature! Created by the wonderful Meggy @ Chocolate ‘n’ Waffles, it’s a remedy against feeling down by creating a list of all the good things happening in my life this week. I became so inspired by her weekly posts and later also that by Nickimags @ Secret Library Book Blog, I felt it was time to begin sharing my own good feelings. It can be anything, from the smallest gesture from a stranger to a major event in your life that alters the direction of your day. Maybe something here will bring a smile to you in the moment.
I know deep in my heart that I have lots to be grateful for in the midst of all the worldwide worry and concern. If I keep my focus on gratitude, I’ll feel its constant presence.
I love most vegetables but the corn this year? Mouth-watering delicious! I got some this week and we’ve had corn every night. The trick is to microwave them…in the husk. Wrap them in a paper towel and dampen it first for steam. Only takes 3 minutes per ear. Comes out juicy and flavorful.
As it looks like we’re going to be wearing these for quite some time, Hubby did some research and ordered us quite the supply of effective yet comfortable face masks. They feel so much better. And, he ordered us nitrile gloves to wear while grocery shopping. Locally, it seems like people are finally understanding that wearing masks are essential and I’m seeing fewer maskless faces.
I got eight audiobooks this week that I was hoping to get for audio review! Doing the happy dance 💃
Since I rarely drive much these days, I haven’t had to get gas for almost two months. My accumulated fuel points from my grocery shopping netted me $.60/gallon off, paying $1.39/gallon to fill my tank!!!
I have trouble sleeping but I’ve gone five nights in a row getting restful sleep! My energy is off the charts. My solution? Go to bed earlier
I continue to pause and reflect upon the people and things in my life that truly matter. For that, I’m grateful.
Some wonderful things this week. I am glad you found some masks that are comfortable and work for you. Saving money is always a bonus. I am loving all the audiobooks I am listening too, whether for review from publishers or netgalley or the ones I am getting from the library. It is wonderful. Have an amazing weekend Jo.

Carol, the cooking method was shared with us by the growers at farmer’s markets. We’ve eaten corn this way for over 20 years.

I’m going to try your corn recipe, Jonetta!🌽🌽🌽
Comfortable masks make a lot of difference, especially in this heat. My little one wears his mask without complaining, which is something I am grateful for😷
Have a great weekend, Jonetta!💜💜💜

Oh, that’s amazing that he doesn’t complain, Toni💜 FYI, that corn cooking method was given to us from the growers at farmer’s markets. They say it’s the best way to steam the corn. It’s consistent, too.

I need sleep. Jonetta. Without stress and without nightmares. I haven’t ventured out yet as numbers are still high and not many wear masks. I wear double to compensate for them.

You’re smart to be extra careful. My hubby is an infectious disease specialist so he examines the masks for depth of cloth content and thickness. I started to sleep better when I started goi g to bed earlier and doing deep breathing exercises to relax and clear my head. I pray that you find rest, Shalini💜

I liked that. I wear layers as I am not sure about the thickness.

I grew up in Iowa where corn is king. I got some a month or so ago in my farm box and it wasn’t great. I’ll have to try again. We microwave ours too. 8 audio ARCs – wow! I have a hybrid which goes 60 miles a day before needing gas so it’s been since February when I last got gas. Usually I can go a year or until we go out of town, but Kelly took classes which were about an hour each way from Jan-Mar so I often used all my electric.
Yay for the sleep! I know that is what I need to do is go to bed earlier and stay off social media at bedtime.

Thanks, Anne💜 I’ve always wanted a hybrid and if I had one now, I probably would be filling up once a year😏
I’ve gotten my corn from a Harris Teeter in the farmer’s market section and it’s been wonderful. Keep trying.

Yay for 5 nights of good sleep in a row. I’ve been struggling with my sleep too so that just sounds like heaven to me. Thanks for the tip about microwaving corn. I love corn but rarely eat it because we usually cook ours out on the grill and it’s just too much work, lol.

Thanks, Suzanne💜 This cooking method is incredibly easy and I like it better than the grilled approach. When you’re ready to remove the husk, run it under cold water to get the silt off easier. It’s a nice juicy surprise!
