Layla Dupree owns the bakery at Lovelight Farms and it is her passion. She’s good at it and is living her dream, except for affairs of the heart. Now out on her latest dud of a date arranged online, she runs into Caleb Alvarez, the former deputy sheriff now teacher, who’s out celebrating with his family. When her date bails on her, Caleb gives her a ride home and they both commiserate about their dating woes. They come up with an “arrangement” to date each other for a few months, no strings attached, and give each other feedback. No pressure right? They didn’t factor in their incredible chemistry.
the heart of the story…
Layla didn’t know that Caleb, who visits her bakery three days a week with the same order, is already half smitten. It’s not like she didn’t notice him but until that night, she didn’t “see” him. He’s such a nice guy who goes all in sort of quickly. She seems to settle for men who don’t deserve her. I loved these two, Caleb being a man who cares deeply for his family and people in general and Layla who is clever, delightful and pours her heart into her bakery fare. Their “dates” were often hilarious and brought out the best in each other.
the narration…
Both were so good in their performances, she beautifully capturing Layla’s light and sensual nature and he reflecting Caleb’s humor and insecurities. They were perfection!
the bottom line…
I loved everything about this “arranged” romance, especially their often crazy dates, which kept them in their natural elements. When things start to heat up, it’s more off-the-charts sensual than steamy. There’s one scene that was just incredible. But it’s the lovely hearts of two people who deserved love and they were just fortunate to find each other. Aside from something Layla did at the end that didn’t ring authentic, this was a fun and special romantic adventure.

Oh, Aimee, if you love romance, you’ll love this story that has everything. That one scene? It’s just über sensual, all about Layla and Caleb and not so much the sex. It’s beautifully done and narrated. Hope that helps.
