the setup…
Rory Smith and Oliver Adams had what feels like a serendipitous encounter…in a drama class. She was randomly paired with him for a scene from Romeo and Juliet and shared a kiss she never forgot. Jump forward four years and they have another random encounter right before Valentine’s Day that is both unique and hilarious. Two special meet cutes…is it destiny?
the heart of the story…
I thought after the first encounter something might have developed between these two but nothing happened. Their second connection was far more crazy and hilarious, but occurring the day before she was leaving New York for California. I loved how they decided to spend their time together, then and later.
the narration…
It’s a duet narration by Jesse Vilinsky & Stephen Dexter, a style I love as it always adds an oomph to the story and it did here. Both of them have wonderful voice tones, excellent timing and great storytelling skills.
the bottom line…
While Rory & Oliver’s two meet cutes were unique and funny, it’s what came next that made this an enjoyable romance. I just wish there’d been an explanation for why they never connected the first time. Otherwise, I had a good time with these two.
