the setup…
Veterinarian Noah Lennox is back in hometown Evergreen Falls during the Christmas season. He’s definitely Mr. Scrooge as he dislikes all things Christmas but his grandfather is retiring and will be leaving Sleigh Ride Hank, the family sleigh ride horse farm, to either him or his smarmy cousin Stephen. It’s game on despite his bah humbug attitude. Eloise Langston is a social media and PR professional hoping to convince the Evergreen Falls mayor that she’s the person to revamp their website and accounts. She had a chance encounter with Noah on her way back to town, believing him to be his twin brother, Chris, also a vet and a beloved podcaster. After being pranked by him, Eloise decides to turn the tables and recruit him as one of the candidates for Mr. Christmas in the town’s Mr. Holiday pageant so she can demonstrate her skills to the mayor. What can possibly go wrong?
the heart of the story…
I was looking for something light and fun and boy did I hit the jackpot! Eloise & Noah’s witty and smart banter is a standout. She’s all sunshine to his cynicism and the scenarios she creates for him are hilarious and on the naughty side. When she gets caught up in his distrust of all things Stephen, that partnership adds more fun. Despite their differences, the road to romance was inevitable.
the narration…
It’s a full cast duet narration with Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon taking the lead for Noah & Eloise. There was magic in their performance along with the supporting cast. This was the best of an audio experience and it was delightful.
the bottom line…
I rarely read out of order but this was one time my instincts paid off because it felt like a standalone. I loved the romance, the banter, the quirky town and the strong family and season vibes. Noah isn’t perpetually grumpy and his love of animals showed his softer side. Eloise is smart, creative and fun in all the right ways. This is a perfect holiday story with an outstanding audio experience.
